About Us
The Vermont Country Deli opened its doors in 1986. After four years of establishing itself as a destination spot for many travelers, a tragic fire in 1990 nearly leveled the business. Six months later, due to a tremendous amount of hard work and the dedication of the local and out of town customer base, the store reopened. Much care was taken to preserve the old country store appearance of the hundred plus year old building, and customers from near and far were excited to visit this new/old site.
The store has had a colorful history filled with celebrity visits, near-miss traffic incidents and even a delivery van through the front window. The Vermont Country Deli has been mentioned over the years in such publications as Ski Magazine, Ladies Home Journal and has had a seasonal television commercial on RSN, the Mount Snow area sports network.
Advertising has become a fairly new concept for the Deli, with the addition of this website, as well as print ads in Vermont Life Magazine and several local area travel guides.
The Vermont Country Deli employs an average of twenty-five people at any given time. You may see familiar faces when you visit us, as we have several members of the staff who have worked here for 10+ years and even one person who was here back when the store opened in 1986.
Many of our staff are employed part time and are still in high school or college. This is a great place to learn about food and the buzz of the retail store scene. Many of our students return year after year as they come home from college for the summer.
We pride ourselves on fast service, a healthy dose of humor, and above all….a love of good food.
We hope you will visit us soon and experience all that the Vermont Country Deli has to offer.
